Privacy Policy

Your photos never leave your phone.

Last updated 28 August 2026

Don't Date Your Photos is an iPhone app that helps you sort and delete photos from your own library. It has no account system and no server. This policy explains, specifically, what the app does and does not do with your information.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you, and we have no way to identify you.

Your photos and videos

With your permission, the app reads photos and videos from your device's photo library in order to display them to you so you can decide what to keep. That is the only reason they are read.

Your photos are never copied, uploaded, transmitted, or shared. They are not sent to us or to anyone else, because there is no server to send them to. They stay on your device at all times.

What is stored on your device

All of this stays on your device. None of it is transmitted anywhere.

The decision count that outlives the app

iOS deletes an app's normal storage when the app is removed, but it does not clear the Keychain. We deliberately store one number there — how many decisions you have made — so that reinstalling the app does not silently reset the free allowance.

It is a count and nothing more. It contains no photos, no history of what you decided, and nothing that identifies you or your device. It never leaves your phone.

Network connections

The app makes network requests in only two situations:

Deleting photos

Nothing is ever deleted automatically. Photos you mark are collected for you to review, and are removed only after you confirm. iOS then moves them to the Recently Deleted album, where they remain recoverable for 30 days from within the Photos app. The app cannot delete anything permanently, and it cannot bypass that 30-day window.

Favorites

Marking a photo as a favorite in the app sets the standard iOS Favorite flag on that photo, exactly as the Photos app does. This changes only your own photo library on your own device.

Sharing with third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your data, because we do not have any of your data. The only third parties involved at all are Apple, who process purchases, and Expo, who serve app updates — neither of which receives information about you or your photo library from this app.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since it collects no information from any user, this is true regardless of age.

Removing your data

Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device, apart from the decision count described above. There is no server holding anything, so there is nothing to request, export, or ask us to erase. If you would like the Keychain count cleared as well, contact us and we will explain how.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed. Material changes will also be reflected in the Privacy screen inside the app.
